Griffin Technologies Ships SecuriKey® For Macintosh
September 1, 2004
LAWRENCE, KS - Griffin Technologies, LLC, a leading provider of information security solutions for software protection and user authentication, today announced it has begun shipping SecuriKey® for Macintosh Professional Edition, the first-ever USB-based authentication solution for individual Macintosh users. Featuring a USB token that acts like an 'ignition key' for any desktop or portable Macintosh, SecuriKey for Macintosh is the most convenient and reliable way yet to protect Macs from unwanted use.
SecuriKey for Macintosh Professional Edition supports most portable and desktop Macintosh products running Mac OS X Panther or higher, including Power Macs, PowerBooks, iBooks, and iMacs. By combining a security solution the user "has" (a USB token) with something he or she "knows" (a password), SecuriKey assures strong two-factor protection. Rules-based user controls are included as well, providing additional flexibility.
"For years SecuriKey has been a leading security product for the Windows operating system. Now Mac users can equip their computers with the same reliable access control, using one of the most sophisticated security technologies available," said Bennett Griffin, president and founder of Griffin Technologies. "What's more, Mac users who also own or use Windows PCs can now use SecuriKey to secure all their computers using the same small, convenient SecuriKey USB token."
Simple, Powerful
Whether protecting highly confidential data or simply preventing unwanted use, SecuriKey makes securing any computer is as easy as putting a key into a lock. The product totally restricts access to the Macintosh OS, maintaining control of the computer while ensuring protection should the device be lost or stolen.
Versatile enough for road warrior, Small Office/Home Office or family use, SecuriKey for Macintosh features an easy auto lockup feature. Simply remove the key-like SecuriKey token from the USB port and the computer is locked; re-insert the key, and the user resumes control of the machine. SecuriKey for Macintosh users can also set their security controls to allow partial access without user authentication, so that family members or co-workers can use the computer without access to specific files or applications.
SecuriKey for Macintosh ships with two attractive, key-sized USB tokens suitable for attachment to any key ring. Having a second SecuriKey token gives users a backup should the first be lost or stolen; the single SecuriKey for Macintosh license allows users to load the software on as many computers as they wish, all controlled by the same one or two tokens.
For multiple users, SecuriKey for Macintosh supports the creation of separate accounts. Each separately protected account requires the purchase of at least one additional token.
Pricing and Availability
SecuriKey for Macintosh Professional Edition is now shipping worldwide and is priced at $129.00 (MSRP). The product includes two USB tokens, security software for Mac OS X and Windows, and complete installation instructions. Volume pricing is available. Additional tokens for multiple users are $49.95 each.
